“Vido ergo sum” – I see, therefore I am.
Can we, as humans, truly perceive reality? Does this reality even exist? Between the microscopic and the cosmically infinite, we effortlessly place ourselves at the center. But to what extent is that view justified? Isn’t our perception merely a subjective reconstruction of reality?

The truth we think we know is often nothing more than a reflection of ourselves: limited, distorted, and deeply rooted in human scale and meaning. Our perception is not a mirror of reality, but a lens, magnified, reduced, shifted. Are we capable of truly seeing, or merely interpreting?

This interactive installation is an invitation to doubt.
And to look again.

 Thoughts Overload is an experimental poster project exploring visual chaos and mental clutter through a three-stage design process. In stage one, I created 20 compositions using only typography. In stage two, I reworked those same compositions through analog and digital manipulation and layering. In the final stage, I worked on 20 non-typographic visuals, focusing purely on form and texture. The result is a poster that combines all the 3 experiments, reflecting the progression from structured thought to abstract overwhelm.

 ROOTS is a personal project exploring my extended family through a book and map. With many relatives across generations, and little contact with some, I wanted to visualize and better understand these connections. The book features mostly blank pages, representing missing photos or broken ties, while the map provides structure and overview. Rather than filling the gaps, I chose to highlight them, turning absence into a visual element. ROOTS reflects on memory, distance, and the complexity of family ties.

“How can you lead a group when your vulnerable emotions, like blushing and crying, are constantly visible?

This short graduation documentary is a film that uncovers the ancient and vital social connection between humans, and between humans and great apes. Meike attempts to present herself as a strong leader through cinematic experiments, trying to control her emotions. Together with cognitive psychologist Mariska Kret, she explores what evolution has to do with this dynamic. Meanwhile, the alpha individuals of our relatives, the chimpanzees, show how vulnerable emotions and leadership naturally relate to one another.

The film is an ode to world-renowned primatologist Frans de Waal, who sadly passed away in 2024.”

 SUKI is a booklet that explores the meaning of hairstyles in Congo Kinshasa, both in the past and today. It shows how hair can be more than just style. It can express culture, identity, spirituality, and resistance. From traditional Mangbetu hairstyles to modern braiding trends, SUKI tells a visual story about pride, history, and reclaiming roots.

I wanted to explore how a newspaper, something produced and consumed quickly, could be turned into something more timeless and slow. What would happen to the content when it’s given more space, weight, and permanence? By changing the layout, materials, and pacing, the project invites readers to engage with the news in a more reflective way.

My graduation project is focused on a fictional company DeBODEM, an organic farm representing a holistic approach to organic nutrition. The 28-hectare estate in the eastern part of the country has been ecologically balanced, with plants, trees, and animals collaborating for optimal organic processes. The DeBODEM team has developed expertise in sustainable preservation, allowing them to tastefully prepare and cook the harvest. For DeBODEM, I created a contemporary, clear, and recognizable visual identity that effectively communicates their vision and goals.

My project has been selected to be showcased at the Art & Design event PROTO in Zwolle, The Netherlands.
